Letter 1:
Trimurti and Incarnation of Vishnu
Everyone,
Hello! How are you? Let’s talk about the Trimurti and its works.
The Trimurti, the Tri-deity, of Hindu mythology is composed of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. What does it symbolise?
The nomads are travelling through the desert. They decide to stop to set up camp. They take everything off the camels' backs and set up camp. Then they run the camp for a time, organising the preparation of the food, teaching the children, disciplining the naughty ones, fetching water, doing the washing-up and keeping the campsite clean. At the end, they pack everything up again, put it back on the backs of the camels and go away.
Although there were three classes of work that were done; the creation of the camp, the direction of the camp, and the dissolution of the camp, it was the same people that did these different works. However, we call them the creators of the camp, the directors of the camp, and the dissolvers of the camp, depending on the work they are doing at the time. It is always the same people that are the root of all the movement in the campsite, and the differences are only in names.
One Power, Shakti, in three aspects: Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva
There is a power, Pure Intelligence, called Shakti, which is the originating point of all the movement in the universe. This power projects, directs and dissolves the universe. When it is projecting the universe, it is called Brahma, when it is directing it, it is called Vishnu, and when it is engaged in the dissolution of the universe, it is known as Shiva.
When Shakti is in the aspect of Vishnu, it is to direct the universe. In the microcosm, the individual soul, when it is necessary to effect some kind of change, the mind needs to exert its will. In the same way, when it is necessary to effect some kind of change in the universe, the cosmic mind, the finest vibration, Shakti in the aspect of Vishnu, exerts its will, dreaming different vibrations into the creation. Firstly, the idea, the substratum of the subtle layer changes, and this causes a change in the subtle level, which is the substratum of the physical layer, then follow the changes in the grossest crystallisation, which is of physical matter.
Incarnation of Vishnu
When it is necessary to effect a great change at the highest level, the historico-spiritual one, which has as its consequence, a great movement of materialism to spirituality, there are a great many vibrations that have to be changed. In such cases, Vishnu incarnates directly into a microcosm with a physical body in order to work as directly as possible on the individual souls. Now, Vishnu manifests the greatest amount of influence on the development of the Divine Romance, and we see with the physical eyes, how the creation changes from a world of suffering under the dominion of materialism to a divine land.
Furthermore, the unmanifested Brahman now has the opportunity to experience through the individual souls, the greatest amount of bliss, divine love and consciousness of the presence of the Divine that is possible in the creation, if we stick to the path indicated by the incarnation of Vishnu, if through faith having observed the effects in others we continue along the path with strength and will, if we submit to the feet of Vishnu. That has happened in the days of Rama, Krishna, Buddha, Chaitanya and Ramakrishna, and as Vishnu has descended to our plane again, this will indeed come to pass once again, even in our lives. The Will of the Divine cannot not be fulfilled.
With lots of love,
Hare Krishna,
Koji
